Greetings, guitarists and non-guitarists alike. You've just reached the abode of Burhanudin Bin Buang aka Burhan aka Brader Bo. This is a place to talk about all things guitar-related and music-related especially all things related to downtuned, syncophated metal guitar riffing. Beware I'm a devotee of Gary Holt, James Hetfield, Robb Flynn, Dino Cazares and Marten Hagstrom cult of guitar playing. If you're expecting some Malmsteen, Petrucci or Blackmore worship, sorry, I've disappointed you!

MAX CAVALERA: I Don't Need A SEPULTURA Reunion, But I'd Like To Do It For The Fans - Dec. 29, 2010
Nyna of MetalSickness.com conducted an interview with SOULFLY/CAVALERA CONSPIRACY mainman Max Cavalera on November 18, 2010 at Elysée Montmartre in Paris, France. You can now watch the chat below.

On the possibility of a reunion of the classic lineup of SEPULTURA, featuring Max on guitar/vocals and his brother, Igor Cavalera, on drums:

Max: "People are asking me about this reunion thing. I've said many times before that I'd like to do it and I don't even need to do it because both of my bands are doing really good — CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and SOULFLY are doing so good that I don't even need a SEPULTURA reunion for my life. But I'd like to do it for the fans because they're asking for it so much. But I think the person that they should ask is mostly Paulo [Xisto Pinto Junior, SEPULTURA bassist], because he's the one that's been telling people that it's not gonna happen. So, I don't know, really. If people want to know, they should ask him. They should ask him straight up, 'Why are you saying it's not gonna happen?' and get an answer from him. Because I can only do so much. I did try already. And, actually, I got my brother convinced to do it — Igor said that he would do it — and I talked to Andreas [Kisser, SEPULTURA guitarist] and Andreas was, actually, like, 'OK, I'll do it. Let's do this reunion.' And then Paulo becomes the problem. It's kind of ridiculous, actually, 'cause... I mean, in that band right now, there's nobody original. I created that band, I gave the name. I started that band when I was still in school with Igor. Nobody from that time is in that band right now, from when we first started. I don't know... It's kind of weird to have them around carrying the name like it was theirs; they act like it was their band. Really, it's not. That was my and Igor's band in the beginning."

On the recent departure of SOULFLY bassist Bobby Burns:

Max: "Well, we're still friends. It was really a friendly split. SOULFLY is a very demanding band that demands of you to really... You've gotta be some kind of soldier to be in SOULFLY and it's really not an easy band to be in, and I'll be the first one to say that. We go to places a lot of people don't go, and we play places a lot of people don't play. But on the other side of the coin, we get to see the world and get to travel the world and meet many people and it's great life for a musician. It was my dream from the beginning to do this. And when somebody is not feeling the same way as us... I always said from the beginning: If you're not 100 percent here with us, then you should not be here at all. And Bobby wasn't like that anymore; he was, really... It was a situation where nobody was even talking to him in the end, and he was not talking to anybody. It was really strange. I never had that in a band before like that. It was really kind of, like, 'What's going on with this guy?' And it got to the point where he started to drink a lot, too, and that was another problem. He started missing a lot of notes and not playing the bass so good live. That's another thing that cannot happen; we have to make sure that we play good at night — a lot of people want to see us, so we've gotta be... If there's 10 people at the show or 10,000, I want SOULFLY to perform the same; I always that to the other guys. Even though it's hard sometimes — if there's less people there, if there's no vibe, or the vibe sucks, you still [get into] it. Those people there are your hardcore fans because they came here. Maybe there's only 100 of them, [but] they are 100 of your most hardcore fans that came to see you, so it's very special that you play the same. And Bobby was not feeling like that anymore, so it was better for us to say to him, 'We think it's better for you to go and we'll get somebody there that's gonna be hungry again to be in the band,' and that's what we're looking for right now."

SOULFLY has just completed a U.S. tour with STRAIGHT LINE STITCH and INCITE.

Bassist Johny Chow, who has played with SOULFLY's Max Cavalera and Marc Rizzo (guitar) in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and is a member of FIREBALL MINISTRY, is loaning his skills to SOULFLY tours for the immediate future until the position is filled.

SOULFLY's latest album, "Omen", sold 6,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 73 on The Billboard 200 chart.

SOULFLY's previous album, "Conquer", opened with 8,400 units back in August 2008 to land at position No. 66 on The Billboard 200 chart. This number was in line with the opening tally of the CD's predecessor, "Dark Ages", which shifted a little more than 8,000 copies during its first week of release in October 2005 to enter the chart at No. 155.

that's right dude!!!It was always Andreas' wife and Iggor's wife x Gloria "Yoko Sharon" Cavalera!!!Ohhhh but Iggor got back with max... OF COURSE!! He divorced his first wife (and got all techno with this new one)...If they all get divorced (specially Max).. it'd happen nicely... Props to Paulo for remaining single!! lol!!Seriously now... Max... If you want the reunion (that "for the fans"... no one is buying... even the fans who want this reunion know it's BS!!), dump Gloria and stop talking trash about the current lineup... Your brother loves Derrick (even calling him a brother to the cameras on the last CC concert in Brasil)... Sepultura only got great (it was only good before) when you and Andreas teamed up... FACT!If you think it's so unfair that Andreas and Paulo are using the name Sepultura... sued them, get the name to yourself and shut up!! But remember that YOU turned your back to the band... you didn't get kick out...PS - There is a band in Brasilia that sued them for the name Sepultura, because they were named Sepultura before Max, Wagner, Paulo and Igor do it in Belo Horizonte... There was a lawsuit in the early 90's... I don't know what happened...PS 2 - If Max didn't want to talk about the reunion, even if people ask him, he'd just say "I don't want to talk about it"... He wants to get attention with it... Don't be naive, people!!!

I liked Sepultura with Max, they end on that, got to see them with Sadus and Obituary eons ago then saw them again with Fudge Tunnel both excellent shows after that well that was that- like many I would like to see a reunion sure, would love to hear some of those tracks again it won't be like it was it never is, but its something- yeah we have our youtube and home dvds etc.. but yeah would be nice to see them again- the randomness is a lot of bands went on with none of the orignal band members and one Max loves - NAPALM DEATH!!! not one orignal band member and they are still killing it- but I can't say that about the new version of Sepultura- like Derrick but yeah not with Sep.

If Max came up with the name, it probably should stay with him, but keep in mind, Max is the one with the integrity problem. He tried to turn Sepultura into a nu-metal band when Ross Robinson was the trendy guy to have for a producer - "Roots", Max is the one who had Fred Durst from limp bizkit on his first album after he left Sepultura - Soulfly's debut, Max is the one who let his yoko/sharon osbourne-ish wife cause turmoil within the band. How many shitty things can this guy do to drag the Sepultura name through the mud? Not to mention, have you heard Derrick Green's new project, Musica Diablo? It's pretty good. If Sepultura would hone their songwriting a little more, they're probably more deserving of the name than Max, who afterall, jumped ship.

Goddamn it Max,I love and respect the hell outta you,but I gotta say this.....SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. Did you not see the statement Andreas and crew recently made?

You belittle Paulo's bass skills and overall input and wonder why he wants nothing to do with you(by the way, sweep your own doorstep before thinking lowly of someone else's playing. it's a guitar, not an over sized necklace)? You Slam Andreas in press after one conversation/failed attempt to get things going? all of this IS NOT HELPING ANY CHANCE OF A REUNION AT ALL.

Furthermore,"he's just responding to the question" is a bullshit statement. No one is making the dude answer these questions. Is a simple "next question please" really that hard to mutter?

As I said,I respect the hell out of Max. I love everything he's ever recorded. Nevertheless, all this shit talking will only piss off Andreas and Paulo bad enough to write you off forever. They're already well on their way through that route as it is.

I was at a show where Soulfly was opening up for Slayer, don't remember the year or tour, but anyway...the rig for Soulfly's lead guitar player went down, and until the techs got it back up and running, Soulfly was a pathetic mess. Max was sloppy and off time. It was obvious he was struggling to play and do vocals at the same time...basically, he needs that other guitar player turned way up to cover the fact that he's let whatever guitar playing abilities he did have, go to shit.

I mean I'd still go to see it if it happened but I'd have conflicting opinions on it actually "working" at this point now. Good luck if you can make it happen though but I'm not really holding my breath on it.

He says he doesn't need a reunion and just wants to do it for the fans, but why then backtalk Paolo all the time? If "the fans" want a reunion they want a real reunion where Sepultura will actually make somehting memorable. Not just get together for "the fans" and do a few shows and then split up backtalking each other again.
To me this all sounds like a moment 22 situation, Max claims to be interested in a reunion for "the fans", yet he is the one constantly talking about a reunion, creating all the pressure himself.

I do think Max is the best fronman for Sepultura, but he left the band and the band moved on. Sometimes you have to accept that you can't keep the cookie and at the same time eat it as we say i Sweden.

This all "we started real Sepultura", "this is one fake Sepultura" and "Sepultura`s name belongs to us" is 100% of bullshit. Yes, it`s true: you have started the band, but then you quited. It`s like in the company: you start one, run it, then quit it, then start another one, then put a statement: "Hey, get me back to the first one, `cause I`ve started it...". I mean `cmon... Max you should be grown enough to know how this goes? Or maybe you should try finish some school except primary one, before starting your music career?

and one more thing: there is a band called NAPALM DEATH. Imagine now, that guys like Nic Bullen and Miles Ratledge comes out and wants the reunion of original NAPALM DEATH squad. No Barney on vocals, no Shane on bass, even no Mick Harris on drums (the guy who invented blast beats). Sounds crazy? Sounds stupid? Sounds the same as Max does...

Regardless of the reunion topic, this interview is complete amateur crap. Fuck me, Max looks like he's been kidnapped by the Talibans and is kept in a grotto in Afghanistan, and even the subtitles in French are wrong!!

What I don't get is why Paulo wants to be such a stuck-up pain in the ass about it, if that's the case.

I mean, I have never even heard the guy talk, let alone give an interview or even write anything in this band. So why is it all up to him all of a sudden if everyone else are more or less willing to do something?

Just do it for the fucking fans at least, if not for anything else. It's a fucking goldmine waiting to happen!

What happens to the other 2 members if the old line up reforms? How do they break it to them - sorry guys, we`re just going to reform the band that actually sold some records for a year and leave you dossing about scratching your ass. Would it be alright if we then all got together afterwards and took up where we left off?

It would be the same situation as Anthrax with the whole Belladonna reunion debacle. Not to mention the fact Max and Paulo don`t even appear to like each other anymore ( so the tour would probably fizzle out half way through due to infighting ).

As much as I loved Seps first 4 albums ( and Chaos to a lesser extent ) I honestly couldn`t care if they get back together again.

C'mon, this latest Sepultura line up is not Sepultura.

Max is back on this thrash metal thing now, so they should reunite and put out a great Sepultura record that is just old school metal. No weird instruments or tribal stuff, just straight ahead metal Beneath The Remains style.

Paulo is just scared he will get fired if the reunion happens.

Sepultura has already reunited. They're called the Cavalera Conspiracy. Max and Igor should go out and do a set of all Sepultura songs. No one cares about those two goons that have been leaching off their past accomplishments for all these years.

I'm sick of reunions.

I'd far prefer to hear NEW music than all this effort that seems to go towards talking about getting together and playing old songs with an old band. That goes for just about every reunion that seems to be spoken about. For goodness sake, Sepultura are not the Beatles!

Max, if you're so brilliant and your bands are doing so well, go create a timeless album with the band members you do have, rather than waste time talking about how you might relive the past some time in the future!

Wjho need a reunion? I saw 'em in '89, got thanked on "schizophrenia" so what... to play a show with 98% of awful groovy/ tribal/ mosh bullshit?! Fuck those false metallers.... if they had been REAL Metallers for real they would have never written all the garbage they did for the last two decades. Enfd of story.

I agree with a couple comments in here. Enough with reunions, enough with nostalgia, it's getting sickening. Metal is collapsing under its own weight right now, it needs a masive clean up.

Although I do love the new Sepultura stuff, I think for the sake of the "classic Sepultura" they should have changed the name when Igor left. Since the current Sepultura's music is very insignificant compared to the old Sepultura's stuff.

It's like Andreas got a mission to prove that he can somehow someday turn fans around to start liking the new Sepultura as much as the classic Sepultura.

That Arise anniversary was ridiculous too. Missing 2 SIGNIFICANT members on stage. Although it did sound great.

What's Max Cavalera Conspiring to?

Interview and Photos by: Brandon Marshall

Metal Maxxx Cavalera has been a pioneer in the metal scene for over 25 years, and he has fronted some of the most influential bands, as well as composing some of the most influential songs, while garnering international success and attention along the way. Fusing sub-genres from Groove Metal to Death Metal, Max has gone on to set the template for many of the artists of today. From his beginnings in Brazil, to forming Sepultura at the age of 14, Max has been a true metal warrior, with a passion for not just the music he plays, but a true passion and interest for metal in general.

After his departure from Sepultura in 1996, Max went on to form Soulfly in 1997. During a period from the late 1990’s to the early 2000’s, some of the music he wrote with Soulfly was questionable, but, in present day, Max is like a fine whiskey only getting better with age. We had the chance to speak with Max, in an honest and candid interview, while he was on tour with Soulfly and preparing for his second release with Cavalera Conspiracy, along side his brother Igor Cavalera.

"IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST BIZARRE THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN, AND IT WAS SO COOL. IT WAS "RING AROUND THE ROSEY" METAL STYLE."

SONIC EXCESS: You have been on a worldwide tour in support of SOULFLY’s eighth studio album OMAN. What have some of the highlights from the tour been, and what have been some setbacks?

MAX CAVALERA: Some of the highlights have been the show in China that we did. It was the first time for me in China, and it was a festival with over 10,000 people. It was so cool because they did the circle pit holding hands. It was one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen, and it was so cool. It was “Ring Around the Rosie” metal style. Israel was really cool. We opened up for OZZY OSBOURNE there on Ozzfest in Tel Aviv. We also did a ten date Russian tour, and we went to Siberia. Seven of those shows were in Siberia, and we were the first international band to tour Siberia. The crowds were just amazing.

SE: How was it to perform in Brazil after so many years, and meet the Brazilian fans again, were you overwhelmed by the response you got?

MAX CAVALERA: AMAZING! It was so good to go back. It was a great festival, and to be honest, I was nervous because it was my first time in Brazil since 2002, and it was my first show with IGOR CAVALERA (Max’s brother and drummer for CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, EX- SEPULTURA) in Brazil since I split up with SEPULTURA. The minute the first note was played, the crowd just went crazy. I heard from some people that the show got really good reviews saying, “Our show was one of the best of the festival”. So, I was really happy to hear that.

SE: I have seen YouTube footage of it, and the crowd had a lot of energy. It seemed like a really cool vibe. Do you miss that South American style?

MAX CAVALERA: Yeah, but the metal crowd vibe is like that in general. Even here in the states, it’s still pretty damn good, but they were really excited to see me and IGOR play together again after ten years or so, on the same stage. So, it was cool for them.

SE: Members of SEPULTURA (ANDREAS KISSER and PAULO XISTO) were in the audience for the show in Brazil. Did you have a chance to talk with them, or did you see them in the crowd?

MAX CAVALERA: No, I saw pictures. It was actually kind of funny. One guy wrote underneath, “How cute, ANDREAS brought his father to the show”. It was PAULO, and I guess PAULO looks really old these days (laughs). But, I did not see them, even though I was walking around backstage. I saw some other friends from Brazil, from my old times from when I lived there, but I didn’t see those guys.

"THE ALBUM IS MORE BRUTAL THAN THE FIRST ONE. IN TERMS OF METAL, IT'S MORE DEATH METAL."

SE: Will SOULFLY or CAVALERA CONSPIRACY be going back to Brazil?

MAX CAVALERA: I really hope so. It would be really great to have SOULFLY down there, because the last time we played Brazil was in 2002 in Recife. It was a great show. We went on at around 2:00 AM, and people went fucking nuts.

SE: CAVALERA CONSPIRACY is set to release its sophomore album entitled BLUNT FORCE TRAMA in March. Will it follow the same template as INFLICTED, and will JOE DUPLANTIER of GOJIRA be playing bass on the album?

MAX CAVALERA: Joe is not on the album, because he couldn’t stay with the band. So, we found a bass player, and that’s JONNY CHOW. We recorded the album with JONNY. The album is more brutal than the first one. In terms of metal, it’s more Death Metal. MARC RIZZO (guitar) said it sounded like CANNIBAL CORPSE at times. It’s more brutal, and it has a song with ROGER MIRET from AGNOSTIC FRONT. They are one of my favorite hardcore bands, and he (ROGER MIRET) is a legendary person. We did a song called LYNCH MOB, and it’s a really cool thrash-punk, hardcore song. The rest of the album is really aggressive and full of metal. My priority is to keep CAVALERA CONSPIRACY as metal as possible. So, my goal is fulfilled.

SE: Any other guests on the album and who you would like to work with that you have not had the chance to yet?

MAX CAVALERA: That’s it for this album (BLUNT FORCE TRAMA). We only had ROGER. As far as people that I would like to work with, a lot of time I think OZZY OSBOURNE is somebody I would really like to do a song with. I think it would be really cool to record with him, maybe one of these days. We all know each other and get along really good with them, and they know our family. I just never had the right time to ask him.

SE: When SOULFLY debuted over 12 years ago, the first few albums had a lyrical content that was very spiritual, and the sound was more experimental. and Nu-Metal. Now, the SOULFLY has become darker and heavier with each release. Is this what you are compelled to write?

MAX CAVALERA: It’s how I felt with the band. It started on PROPHECY when MARC RIZZO (guitar) joined the band, and it started getting heavier. MARC is a big fan of thrash; he loves SLAYER, SEPULTURA, DARK ANGEL, POSSESSED and a lot of those bands from the 1980’s. When I started to play with MARC, I wanted to go into that direction. I love that era of music, and it was a big influence on me and SEPULTURA. I wanted to bring it back. I decided to write heavier songs, and then DARK AGES came out and it was even heavier and darker. CONQUER continued in the same way. We did a song “BLOOD FIRE WAR HATE” with DAVID VINCENT of MORBID ANGEL, and that was just like pure metal madness. I like the fact that I had a chance to do it with my own band. When a band gets more popular, they get soft. I did it the other way around. I had the chance, so why not?

SE: You recently departed with BOBBY BURNS (bass). Why was that?

MAX CAVALERA: He (BOBBY) just wasn’t feeling it anymore. Even though I think he regrets it now, because he sent some emails about how much he missed the SOULFLY camp and the activities. He wasn’t there for us anymore. He was very distant and not feeling the same way that we felt. When you’re in SOULFLY, it’s part of a family, it’s a hardcore routine. If it’s a show with 10 people or 10,000 people, I want them to play the same, with no rock star bullshit. BOBBY started drinking and missing notes, so that became a problem. All that accumulated into, like, enough was enough. We thought it was better if he left, so we could get someone in this band to make it more powerful.

SE: But JONNY CHOW is working out great now, right?

MAX CAVALERA: For the moment. He plays for CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. So, he knew all the songs, and he was available at the last minute. We took him to Europe, and now to the states, but we are meeting with some more base players, and we hope to have someone by the beginning of next year.

"I DID CALL ANDREAS, AND I HAD A REAL GOOD TALK WITH HIM. IT SOUNDED LIKE HE WANTED TO DO IT, AND I HAD IGOR ONBOARD FOR THE REUNION."

SE: The classic SEPULURA line-up reunion is always a subject, and it almost happened. Why did it fall though? I also heard that you will join SEPULTURA for Rock in Rio III. If this is true, will IGOR be joining you?

MAX CAVALERA: I have not heard anything about that, as far as trying to get SEPULTURA back together. I did call ANDREAS, and I had a real good talk with him. It sounded like he wanted to do it, and I had IGOR onboard for the reunion. I think the only person preventing it is PAULO. I don’t know why, but I think PAULO is really against the reunion. People should ask him why he is so against it, because I think it would be a great think for the fans to see the original line-up. SEPULTURA was one of the most important bands in the metal scene, and it would have been really cool to do it. I don’t need a reunion, because SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY are doing great, but I would like to do it for the fans to show them we had this kick ass band. We can do it again, but people should ask PAULO why it doesn’t appeal to him.

SE: Have you listened to the new SEPULTURA CD’s? If so, what is your opinion on them?

MAX CAVALERA: No, I never felt like I wanted to. I never got the chance, or the albums, not even the stuff that IGOR did. I never got to hear that. I don’t know, not familiar with it man. To me it’s really weird, SEPULTURA, to me, has a name. It was something I created in high school, and it was like my baby for all these years. I came up with the name, and I wrote a lot of the songs. When I left, it was really hard for me to go and listen to something called “SEPULTURA”.

SE: Do you think it’s appropriate, with you and IGOR not in the band anymore, for it to still be called SEPULTURA?

MAX CAVALERA: The original band is not in the band anymore, me and IGOR are out. IGOR was original, because he was there in the beginning. But, now that we both are out, I don’t see the credibility.

SEPULTURA members Andreas Kisser (guitar) and Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. (bass) were interviewed for the summer 2010 issue of U.K.'s Terrorizer magazine. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

On the possibility of a reunion of the band's classic lineup, featuring Max Cavalera on guitar/lead vocals and his brother, Igor Cavalera, on drums:

Paulo: "No. There's no reason to have a reunion. The only reason to have a reunion would be the money and that's it.

"We have no contact [with Max], no nothing.

"In Brazil, there's a saying, 'zero on the left,' which means nothing. For me it's like that — gone.

"He [Max] left the band because he wanted to.

"'Keep going with your life, leave me alone; I have nothing to do with you anymore. Do your thing, let me do my thing.' And that's it. I don't care.

"Whatever he is doing; if he's happy, good.

"I am happy with [what the current lineup of SEPULTURA is doing] and that's what I'm sticking to.

"We don't want to go and fuck up this lineup."

On Max's claim that everyone was into the reunion but that Andreas wanted more money:

Andreas: "It's not money. Money could be on the table — as it was — but we have to enjoy ourselves.

"Like I say, we are not slaves of our situation; that I have to go there because I was part of something successful ten or fifteen years ago.

"I have a lot more fun playing with SEPULTURA today than ever.

"We have everything very much organized. We don't have band managers like we used to. We have a much clearer situation of the business.

"We took our road, the hard road, but it was a learning road.

"Max is a really great riff player. As a singer, he has a voice that is very characteristic. He is very charismatic on stage.

"He left [and] we respect that. We took the burden. He took all the good.

"Why would he want to come back now? If you are so happy doing the stuff you are doing, be that.

"I've heard so much stuff that Max has said over the years, but, as I said, money is not an issue.

"The first time they approached us was some ridiculous offer, and me and Paulo had to share ten percent of it all or something stupid like that.

"I am not going on stage as a puppet. I am a musician, for life.

"If we are going to do this, then we have to do it properly. I am not going to practice one day to do one show, one gig after so long, disrespecting our history, disrespecting our fans, just to be there to fulfill some expecations of management, of booking agents. And they want to talk about money? They don't have to show their faces, we have to."

MACHINE HEAD Frontman: My Son Asks Me At Night If The Robbers Are Going To Come In And Kill Me - Sep. 14, 2010
MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn spoke to the Martinez News-Gazette about the burglary of his home during which several of his guitars were stolen, including one that was a gift from late PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.

Flynn said he came home after picking up his six-year-old son Zander from school on September 7 to find that his Martinez, California house had been broken into.

"We walked in and I realized we had been robbed, our bedroom was ransacked, my tools were on the [living room] floor because they had used them to pry the TV off its corner mount," said Flynn, estimating a loss of $20,000 to $30,000 in cash, computers, musical equipment, jewelry and sporting goods.

"I definitely feel we were targeted, it was a team of people and in fact I think I was followed the moment I left the house until I got home because they stopped halfway through for no apparent reason and just dropped everything, like someone alerted them I was coming," said Flynn. "It wasn't a teen-aged smash and grab, they knew what they were doing."

Flynn told the Martinez News-Gazette Monday that until the burglary case was reassigned to Martinez Police officer Leong late last week, he was appalled by the lack of investigational efforts of the Martinez Police Department.

"I don't feel they did a good job at first. I had to insist that they take fingerprints, and even then they only reluctantly agreed and just fingerprinted the three acoustic guitars [that were handled by the intruders but left behind]," said Flynn. "I didn't hear from the police for the next two days … but then Officer Leong came on board … he's been extremely helpful, he knows [of the band] PANTERA.

"But the police [never did take fingerprints] of the doors and windows, it was that bad," Flynn groused.

He added, "The hardest part for us, besides feeling the sanctity of our home has been violated, is that we're paranoid. My wife wants to move and my son asks me at night if the robbers are going to come in and kill me. I tell him, no, I'm not going to let that happen. On Friday we had the top-of-the-line security installed."

Read the entire report from the Martinez News-Gazette.

Flynn is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the black Ibanez Stratocaster and a $2,000 reward for the safe return of the blue Washburn Dimebolt prototype. The rewards offered extend to all pawn shop owners/operators as well, so if you live in Northern California, please pass the above information on to your local pawn shop.

LAMB OF GOD Frontman: 'No One Goes To A Heavy Metal Show To Hear Some Dude Up There Preaching' - Sep. 9, 2010
Jon Wiederhorn of AOL's Noisecreep recently conducted an interview with vocalist Randy Blythe of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Noisecreep: Who were your biggest inspirations as a performer?

Blythe: I loved Henry Rollins and Nick Cave. David Yow from the JESUS LIZARD was a huge influence on me because he's just nuts. I've seen them so many times. He's such a fucking freak and it's just disturbing to watch it. He's an old man now and he can still pull it off. I just love the way he deals with hecklers. He completely destroys them when they fuck with him. At the last show I saw, this guy was fucking with him in the front row, and Yow just took the mic and smashed it right on the guy's forehead. And he was scolding him like a school teacher. He said, "That'll teach you a lesson, you whippersnapper." And the dude's sitting there bleeding out of his head. He's just an amazing man.

Noisecreep: Does being unpredictable keep performing fresh for you?

Blythe: Well, doing the same old thing again and again, it's hard not to fall into a rut. I certainly like amusing myself, and being unpredictable is a lot more amusing to me than doing the same thing over and over again. I like when you never know what's gonna happen when you see these bands, and you might get a story out of it instead of, "Oh, I came and got whiplash from banging my head.: I wanna see some dude do something fucked up. But I don't get as much of a thrill — a knee-jerk reaction out of shocking people — as I did when I was 16 and I had a big chip on my shoulder the size to match my stupid Mohawk. I'd go into a store and people are looking at me. I'd be like, "Why are they staring at me?!!" Duh, 'cause you've got a two-foot high green Mohawk, you asshole. But that seems really childish now. We all go through that stage, but there's still a little devil inside me that does smile when someone gets disturbed.

Noisecreep: You used to speak your mind on stage about the war in Iraq and the Bush administration. Do you think being political on stage can impact an audience?

Blythe: I don't know. Right now, I'd rather do that lyrically. No one goes to a heavy metal show to hear some dude up there preaching. I'm not a very good frontman as far as the whole talking to the crowd things goes, anyway. It's something I've had to learn how to do. It's kind of painful for me. But as our audience has grown it's something my band has talked to me about. I miss the old days when you just jumped on stage and threw beer bottles at people, mostly. But I don't really want to listen to anyone preach, so I try not to preach. I'll say some things every now and then, but mostly I try to deliver what I'm concerned or distressed or angry about through my lyrics. The world hasn't stopped being a fucked up, chaotic, angry place, and in fact it's only getting worse. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I keep doing this.

Read the entire interview from Noisecreep.

MACHINE HEAD Frontman's House Broken Into; Reward Offered For Return Of Stolen Items - Sep. 7, 2010
Guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn of San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"Today, [Tuesday] September 7th, between the hours of 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. [PST] while I was picking my son up from school, my house [which is located in the Martinez/Virginia Hills area of California] was broken into and many priceless items were stolen. Items include my wife's jewelry, laptops, wakeboards, cash, and most importantly four of my guitars, including the guitar that I recorded [MACHINE HEAD's] first album, 'Burn My Eyes', with. Also stolen was a guitar that is priceless to me that was a gift from [late PANTERA guitarist] Dimebag Darrell [see pictures below]. The cocksuckers even stole my son Zander's mini Flying V I got him for Christmas.

"I am offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the black Ibanez Strat along with many stickers, a 'Designated Drinker' sticker. Additionally I am also offering a $2,000 reward for the safe return of the blue Washburn Dimebolt prototype.

"An APB has been put out to every Guitar Center in Northern California and the police were able to get several fingerprints off of the two acoustics that the thieves handled, yet bizarrely left behind. Sightings of two suspicious vehicles have been reported, one a green/teal U.S.-make pickup truck, the other a white pull-side work van.

"If anyone sees or hears of anything on Craigslist, eBay, at their guitar shop... anything, anywhere! Please contact us at mike@machinehead1.com immediately."

Pictured below is the guitar Robb Flynn received as a gift from late PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (which was one of the items stolen from Flynn's home earlier today).

Pictured below is Flynn black Ibanez Strat which was used during the recording sessions for "Burn My Eyes".
